Expert one-on-one rehabilitation after surgery. We follow your surgeon's protocol while providing the hands-on care that accelerates your recovery.
Surgery is only half the battle. The quality of your post-surgical rehabilitation directly impacts your long-term outcome — how well you heal, how quickly you return to normal activity, and whether you reach your full functional potential.
At NeoLife, every post-surgical patient receives 100% one-on-one care with a licensed physical therapist. We coordinate directly with your surgeon to follow your specific surgical protocol while applying our expertise in manual therapy, progressive exercise, and patient education.
Our therapists have extensive experience rehabilitating patients after orthopedic, spine, and joint replacement surgeries. We track your progress with objective measurements and communicate regularly with your surgical team.

Every surgery heals on its own timeline, but the road back follows a predictable sequence. Knowing which phase you are in — and what matters most right now — takes the guesswork out of recovery.
Phase 1
In the first days to weeks, the priority is protecting the surgical repair while managing pain and swelling. Expect gentle, protocol-driven range of motion, hands-on work to calm guarding, and clear guidance on what to avoid — all coordinated with your surgeon's timeline.
Phase 2
As healing allows, we rebuild range of motion and begin graded muscle activation. Manual therapy loosens stiff tissue while targeted movement retrains the muscles that shut down after surgery. This is where most patients start to feel like themselves again.
Phase 3
With mobility restored, we rebuild the strength and control you lost during recovery. Progressive loading, corrective exercise, and movement re-education close the gap between where you are and where you need to be for daily life and sport.
Phase 4
The final phase is about performance and resilience — power, agility, and sport- or work-specific training, plus injury-prevention strategies so you come back stronger than before. We clear you only when objective testing shows you are truly ready.
Your surgeon's protocol dictates the pace — for example, an ACL reconstruction may span 6–9 months across all four phases, while a total knee replacement often progresses through them in 8–12 weeks. We map your plan to your specific procedure, not a generic template.

This depends on your specific surgery and surgeon's protocol. Some surgeries (like ACL reconstruction) begin PT within days, while others may require a healing period first. We coordinate directly with your surgeon to start at the optimal time.
Absolutely. Your surgeon's protocol is the foundation of your rehab plan. We coordinate directly with your surgical team, follow all weight-bearing and range of motion restrictions, and communicate progress throughout your recovery.
Most post-surgical protocols start with 2-3 sessions per week and decrease as you progress. Your therapist will recommend a schedule based on your surgery type, healing rate, and goals. The total duration varies — ACL rehab may take 6-9 months, while a knee replacement may be 8-12 weeks.
Yes. We accept post-surgical patients regardless of where the surgery was performed. We'll request your operative report and surgical protocol, then build your rehab plan accordingly. Call (228) 280-8120 to get started.
Some discomfort is normal as you regain range of motion and strength, but therapy should never be sharply painful or push you past your surgical precautions. Your therapist works within your surgeon's protocol, watches your response closely, and progresses you only as your healing allows. We use hands-on manual therapy to reduce pain and guarding so movement feels easier, not harder.
Bring your operative report and any discharge instructions your surgeon or hospital gave you, a list of your current medications, your brace/sling/immobilizer or crutches/walker if you were issued one, and loose clothing that gives us access to the surgical area (shorts for knee/hip, a tank top for shoulder). If you have imaging on a CD or portal, that helps too.
